Description.
Oil on canvas. Small flaws in the canvas and in good condition.
Represents St. John of Ribera (1532 - 1611) praying in front of an altar. The Patriarch is dressed in a dark tunic, closed in front, with his hands clasped in front of his chest with a ring symbolizing his status as archbishop. His face has a serene countenance that seems to convey inner peace, despite the great burden of his duties. He dedicated his life to the formation of future priests and was the founder of the Corpus Christi Seminary College. This compositional scheme was made to have his effigy during his beatification process, becoming over time the canonical image.
