Spinach-green and white jade hat-holder, Qing dynasty

Awarded For. 3.200 €
Lot 219.
Description.

Hetian white jade and spinach-green jade hat-holder. It has a circular base and a rounded base, subtly reminiscent of the morphology of a censer, which rests on six small curved feet. Above this is an elongated tubular body, slightly flared and wider in the central area, crowned by a large piece of white jade, in the shape of an upside-down bowl. The central body is made of a richly carved spinach-green jade, but with an almost smooth surface, decorated with inset appliqués of white jade.

In the lower body of the base, there is a succession of lobed white medallions inscribed with ruyis carved in bas-relief, followed by a disc at the foot of the tubular body, decorated with fine reliefs of dots and scrolls. Right in the centre is another white jade ornamental element, with the same decorative pattern as the lower disc, carved in the form of a rounded bead. The upper piece, in the form of a white jade bowl, has the decoration divided into facets that resemble the petals of a flower, decorated with successive archaic motifs in bas-relief.
