Description.
A vessel of elegantly carved green ‘spinach’ jade. It has a square base, which is set on four short feet. The body, faceted on four rectangular sides, is decorated in relief with small scenes set in a beautiful countryside with steep mountains and tall flowering trees. Three cheerful figures, old men and young disciples accompanying them, holding sceptres and vases, are arranged around the body. At the base is a long incised poem with a mark and two small seals, all decorated with gold ink. It is set on a custom-made base made of carved wood in a deep reddish colour.
