Tianqiuping ‘Bird and flower’ vase, celadon background, Qing dynasty

A ceramic vase, decorated with a light, fine glaze of a soft celadon hue with white and cobalt-blue relief decoration on top. It has a narrow circular mouth that descends into an elongated neck and rests on a globular body.
It is covered with a faint celadon-toned glaze that is thinner at the rim, revealing the white ceramic underneath. The body and neck are decorated with a beautiful leafy landscape in relief, executed in white and cobalt-blue, showing a large central rock, thin bamboo branches, large chrysanthemum flowers and a large central branch, which rises up to the neck of the vase and on which rests an outstretched-winged bird. On the back of the vase are two beautiful butterflies in full flight.
