Description.
White jade figure that represents in great detail both birds by means of openwork forms and engraved elements. It is worth noting the fineness in the representation of the stem, the fruit and the beaks, the wings and their feathers. In good condition with wear.
The meaning of this set is related to the expression "歲歲平安" (Suì suì píng'ān), meaning "Peace every year". It shows a long-necked bird with its young on its back, which is securely on its back and carries a rice stalk (喜米) in its mouth. The meaning of word "Sui" (穗) is extended to flowers or fruits that grow from grain stalks after ripening. It has an auspicious meaning, according to traditions it may indicate: "a family full of descendants".
