Description.
White jade with subtle amber-toned flecks carved in the form of a seal. It has a flat, quadrangular base, on which is placed the image of a mythical beast with a sinuous, snake-like body, supported by sturdy legs and ending in a fiercely expressive face with almond-shaped eyes and a sharp beak. The base is decorated with a seal in low relief. Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-8 AD) or later.
