Description.
A yellow Hetian jade ring, carved in one piece. The exterior is decorated with reliefs of coiled dragons amidst clouds, flames and waves. The quality and detail of the representation is outstanding. In very good condition.
The dragon is a mythological being that is related to the masculine "yang" concept and to the arrival of rain. Of all the creatures it is considered the most powerful and is therefore related to the symbol of imperial authority.
Provenance: Important collection of Tommy Lam, Hong Kong, since 1980.
