Carved agate bead ‘Dragons’, Han dynasty

Carved agate stone, orange-coloured with yellow and greyish spots. It is barrel-shaped, with a bulging belly, curved profile and flat ends. It is decorated around the perimeter with details in relief of slender archaic dragons, with a robust and sinuous body, a fierce expression and open jaws, which are set on a sea of clouds.
