Carved green jade box, 19th - 20th century

Green jade-spinach delicately carved on the outside of the lid and foot. On the top is a medallion encircling a trigram, itself surrounded by facing dragons. There are also four mythical beasts on each side. On the sides of the lid are carved medallions with the twelve ornaments. These symbolise the sun, moon, stars, mountains, dragon, bird, temple vessels, water-herbs, fire, millet grains, axe, and fu. In very good condition with patina and wear.
