Chinese painting "Theatre Mask and Poems", 20th century

Ink and pigment on paper, with a brocade frame. In the centre is a frontal depiction of a theatrical figure wearing a mask under the text "lu mingyue". On either side is a poem of eleven characters, and at the top are two calligraphic characters. The texts are in ink and decorated with gold splashes. Both are signed and sealed "梅兰芳". Mei Lanfang (1894 - 1961) was a renowned actor and opera performer.
