Glazed pottery "Gui" vase, Longquan, Southern Song dynasty (1127 - 1279)
The shape of this vessel derives from the ancient bronze 'Gui' used since antiquity for funerary or ritual use along with the prototype 'Ding'. It is made of ceramic and covered with a celadon-green glaze, with a granulated texture that reveals the colour of the paste on the rim, as it is concentrated in the folds of the shape. The body is rounded, broad and wide-mouthed, supported on a circular base, with two ear-shaped handles at each end and a double line on the belly. In very good condition with light wear, no cracks or restorations.
