"Hu" jade carved vase, Qing dynasty
A vase with a lid carved entirely of light-greenish jade and a rectangular body, covered with relief cartouches in the archaic style. The shape is supported on a flared foot with reliefs and under a wider neck at the rim. All the profiles are straight except for the body. On either side of the neck, there are two ear-shaped handles with two carved rings inside them, and the front parts of the neck are carved with reliefs of banana leaves. The lid is stepped, with 'taotie' reliefs, and a handle that has two rings with rings inside them, located on the side. The details are well executed and depict high quality.
In excellent, unbroken condition. Supported by a carved wooden stand.
