Jade "Cong" shape, Zhou style.

Carved with a rectangular shape with a square profile and a circular hole through the center of the ornament. The exterior is carved in low relief with archaic motifs of spirals. It shows patina and wear.

The Cong is a form of jade that is characterized by having a circular hole enclosed in a square section with the outer surface divided into horizontal bands. It may also be decorated with taotie-like elements. It is generally associated with ancient religious rituals.
