Yellow jade pendant "Liu he tong chun", Qianlong period

A Hetian jade carving 黃玉 (Huáng yù) in the form of an oblong medal with the front side in relief and the reverse side rounded. It shows a deer (lu) and a crane (he) as auspicious symbols "六合同春" (Liù hé tóng chūn) of spring, using their names as homophones. In the spring everyone is prosperous, fortunate and therefore have longevity and wealth. It is one of the ten traditional good fortune patterns in China.
